8.  What's my mailing address?  I need information on sending mail and packages?  What about phonecalls and email access?  What about my cell phone?

You may read more about mail and phonecalls here.

You won't get a mailing address until you get to your basic training company.  You'll be allowed to call home in the first 24 hrs.  You'll also send paperwork home that will have your address on it.  Absolutely no packages and have your loved ones not send you any registered mail either.  After your first initial phonecall, you won't see a phone too often, probably not until after the third week.  So tell your loved ones not to expect to hear from you.  You may or may not have time to do much writing.  You will also not have any computer access, so don't bother with giving out your email.  Leave your cell phone at home.  If you bring it, it'll be packed into your civilian bag, and I'd hate to see what your phone looks like after it has tons of other bags piled on top of it.  The same goes for your PDA and other electronic equipment.
