Top Military Sites

I have collected some other military sites that you may find of interest.  See below:

US Army Website (official site)

US Army Reserves (official site)

Once you sign up for the military, go to this site and sign up for a free account.  Lots of good info here.  It's known as the official online knowledge management tool for the U.S. Army.  You'll be able to find and email others (with your official Army email address) who are in the Army, stay on top of the latest news concerning you and the Army, plus eventually, you'll be able to access your records here.

The Personnel Command. You can access your official military file here, as well as visit your branches' website (each MOS falls under a certain branch).  Just click on Enlisted Personnel Management.  It is important to stay updated on the latest official military happenings (especially within your branch), so be sure to take a look.

This is their mission statement, "ACS will assist commanders in maintaining readiness of individuals, families, and communities within America's Army by developing, coordinating, and delivering services which promote self-reliance, resiliency, and stability during war and peace."  Every post has one and you will find programs and help for both soldiers and family members in a variety of areas to include:  newcomer programs, relocation, deployment readiness, spouse job assistance, financial help, volunteering and a host of other programs.  This site also has a good section on your military move.

This is a DOD website.  This site has detailed worldwide relocation information on major military installations for use by Service men and women and their
families during permanent change of station moves.   Not only can you find out everything their is to know on a post (and download a booklet for that post), but you will also find sections on housing, wait times for govt quarters and cost of off-post apartments and houses.  You'll need your SSN, DOB and last name to access this.

Join and get the messages delivered to your email inbox, or just join and read the messages at your conveniece at Yahoo Groups.  The list does not have too much traffic.  There are a variety of listmembers from those who have been in the Army over 5 years to those who are just thinking about joining.

I frequently get asked what the words  to various cadences are, so here you go.

You may have questions about your move to your first duty station.  Stop by here.

Are you having trouble understanding the thousands of Army acronyms?  You will find many of them at these sites.  The Army Acronyms and Jargon website also includes some of the day-to-day language you will encounter, not to be found in any official dictionary:-))  Also, don't forget to visit the Army Dictionary.

This is the primary foreign language institute for the Department of Defense.  Chances are, if you are scheduled to learn a foreign language, you will be going here.

Do you play an instrument?  Would you like to play in the Army?  Stop by this site to see what it's all about.

You'll find that pretty much every post will have an Army Education Center.  Here you'll find the links to most.  If you have any questions about taking college classes while stationed there, or any of the other benefits they offer, be sure to check them out.  Also, if you are wondering how to use your Army College Fund (ACF) and Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) benefits, as well as information on Tuition Assistance (TA) , the Ft Knox Education Center (Financial Aid) does a good job of explaining their practical use.
